BizLaunch Featured Business: WellNest

“Arlington has an energy we simply thrive off of,” says Phillip Harper, owner of brand-new residential cleaning services company WellNest, explaining that it’s a main reason he decided to start his own business here. “We love the energy and chaos of startup life. It’s always pedal to the metal, challenging, and you have to be resilient.”

WellNest foundersHarper said he saw a real need here for a business like his — an easy-to-use cleaning service that uses products safe enough for small children and employs people he knew he could trust. Harper and his wife set up their offices in MakeOffices’ new Clarendon headquarters, making the home office a central location that also has great resources in his surrounding neighbors. “We’ve met some great entrepreneurs,” he says. “We bounce ideas off one another and bring different perspectives to various industries, it’s great.”

Harper admits starting his own business was harder than he originally anticipated, but he turned to BizLaunch for advice. “Our model relies heavily on word-of-mouth and brand awareness. BizLaunch gave us an avenue to reach out to Arlington’s residents and let them know about our service, our origin and our values. This really helped kick-start our business. A mentor of mine advised me to “always seek assistance from the local economic development group, you’d be surprised at how helpful they can be,” and we are glad we did.”

Harper says he hopes WellNest really helps to transform what he calls an outdated industry, saying eco-friendly cleaning is the way of the future. As he says, just a simple and reliable service our customers can actually count on.
