Explore Arlington's Trails

Take some time to discover Arlington's scenic side by visiting any of its many trails. There are approximately 50 miles of paved off-road trails and even more hiking routes to help you get outside and get active. You'll almost forget you're only steps away from the bustle of the nation's capital.

Explore the Natural World at Arlington’s Nature Centers

Gulf Branch Nature Center Exterior Arlington is home to three nature centers — Gulf Branch, Long Branch and Potomac Overlook — where visitors can view live animal exhibits, interpretive gardens, cultural history and ponds. There are plenty of activities for all ages throughout the year to help you connect with nature and learn more about Arlington's natural resources and wildlife.

Dog Park It's no secret that Arlington is one of the best places to hang out with your four-legged family members. After all, we're consistently ranked as one of the most dog-friendly communities in the nation! So it's no surprise that Arlington's dog parks are places you AND your best buddy can enjoy. Arlington has 10 different dog parks where pups can run off-leash, play, enjoy a game of fetch or sometimes even take a dip.

Arlington has more than 150 outdoor park facilities ranging from sports courts and spraygrounds to picnic areas and amphitheaters. In fact, according to the Trust for Public Land’s ParkScore ® rankings, 99% of Arlingtonians live within a 10-minute walk to a park area.
