Arlington Cultural Affairs creates an environment that encourages innovation and excellence within the Arlington arts community. A national model for regional arts support, Cultural Affairs provides programs and services that build community and transform lives by enhancing enjoyment and understanding of, and participation in, the arts. Home to over 500 individual artists and more than 50 arts organizations, Arlington Cultural Affairs was the first arts program honored with a prestigious Innovations in American Government Award from The Ford Foundation and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. This was for our proactive Arts Incubator approach to regional arts funding, offering low-cost space and services in lieu of large cash grants. A prolific presenter through the years, Cultural Affairs Division’s programming ranges from contemporary visual art, Shakespeare, late-night dance parties and multi-cultural film fests to spoken word, chamber music, family programs and more, the wide array of offerings are as diverse as its audience and are presented in a fresh and less formal environment.
