Global Tech Companies Chosen First Arlington Tech Launchpad Cohort
May 14, 2025 | By Destiny Esper
Arlington Economic Development (AED) announced the first cohort of Arlington Tech Launchpad, a new soft-landing program that invites high-potential global technology companies to explore Arlington as a strategic gateway to the U.S. market.
More than 60 companies from Asia, Europe, Central and South America and the United States applied. After a highly competitive selection process, 15 companies were chosen to participate in a three-day, in-person immersion experience, taking place May 14–16, 2025. The program connects global tech companies with Arlington’s tech ecosystem through tailored introductions to companies of all sizes, universities, investors and public sector leaders.
“Arlington Tech Launchpad is a signal that Arlington is open for international business,” said Ryan Touhill, Director of Arlington Economic Development. “This exciting new program takes a different approach — one grounded in openness, partnership, and a shared belief that international collaboration is essential to driving innovation, growing our economy and shaping a more connected future.”
The 2025 cohort includes companies working across cybersecurity, aerospace and defense, advanced computing, climate tech, edtech, fintech and smart logistics:
Aerialoop, Ecuador/Colombia – Aerospace and defense
ARLOOPA Inc., Armenia – Advanced computing
Bootech, Armenia – Aerospace and defense
Darwoft, Argentina – Advanced computing
FLEXIO, Puerto Rico – Smart logistics
Flexxon Pte. Ltd., Singapore – Cybersecurity
Kreitech, Uruguay – Advanced computing
Kruger Corp, Ecuador/Spain – Cybersecurity, EdTech, FinTech
Myappsoftware, Guatemala – Advanced computing
Oysterable, South Korea – Climate tech
SimpliRoute, Chile – Smart logistics
Sitehop, United Kingdom – Cybersecurity
Starlight AI, UK – GovCon
Telefonica Tech, Spain – Cybersecurity
UTEC Aerospace, Brazil, Aerospace and Defense
The Launchpad kicked off earlier this year with a virtual event drawing more than 100 attendees from 12 countries, generating global excitement about Arlington’s tech landscape.
“This is not just a soft landing — it’s an invitation to scale, build and partner in one of the most connected business environments in the United States,” said Touhill. “This cohort represents the next wave of global innovators, and Arlington is proud to help fuel their journey.”
The in-person immersion experience will feature direct engagements with Amazon HQ2, Microsoft, AWS Skills Center, Virginia Tech Innovation Campus, George Mason University and other innovation leaders based in Arlington and throughout the region.
“The timing of this opportunity is perfect as Sitehop is ready to go and we are actively looking at Virginia as a business destination,” said Melissa Chambers, CEO, Sitehop. “This makes a lot of sense for Sitehop with the number of data centers in Virginia, and to be near lawmakers for cybersecurity and protection from quantum computers. Sitehop is looking forward to building connections with investors, explore local partnerships, and identify possible clients.”
Arlington’s appeal as a launchpad for international tech companies includes its proximity to Washington, D.C., access to top federal agencies and research institutions, and a talent-rich, globally minded workforce. Home to Amazon HQ2 and the Pentagon, among other major corporations and federal agencies, Arlington continues to attract startups, scaleups and multinational firms seeking strategic growth in the U.S.
The region is uniquely positioned as a gateway to both national and global influence — with direct access to decision-makers from all 50 states and diplomatic, trade and multilateral organizations representing nearly every country in the world. Arlington’s ecosystem offers international companies a rare blend of local opportunity and global connectivity.
