Immerse yourself in live music, hands-on workshops, curated exhibitions and a bustling artisan market — all in one dynamic walkable experience.

Arlington Public Library

Arlington Public Library will host two engaging hands-on activities. These interactive experiences invite community members to explore creativity and expression through art, while celebrating the power of literature and ideas. All are welcome to join and take part in these dynamic, inclusive activities.

Maker Studio “The Shop” Tour

Take a tour and make a button at “The Shop,” the makerspace at Central Library (1015 N. Quincy St.). Shop staff welcome those who would like a tour of what equipment is available and what kind of projects are being made in the space. Open until 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Workshop Title: “Bright Words, Bold Streets”

Celebrate Banned Books Week with bold, joyful chalk art at Central Library during the Arlington Art Walk, Oct. 4 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. In this hands-on workshop will take place at the main entrance on Quincy Street, where participants will draw inspiration from titles that have been challenged or censored, transforming sidewalks into vibrant canvases of resistance, reflection and radical joy.

Cody Gallery, Marymount University

Cody Gallery is a contemporary art space created as a platform to support the arts and strengthen the arts community at Marymount University and the greater Washington DC area.  Tunnel Vision includes drawings, works on panel, sculpture, photography and video by Foon Sham. The show includes the interactive large-scale sculpture, Shield. Located on the second floor of Marymount’s Ballston Center (1000 N. Glebe Rd.).

In the heart of the Ballston, the Fred Schnider Gallery of Art (888 N. Quincy St.) puts placemaking at the core of its exhibitions. “Expedition” by Chris Gregson is on display. Each image arises through slow rituals of layering and weaving calligraphic marks. In this series Chris finds freedom from the strict geometries that once held his hand, stepping instead into a process of gestural movements from which the images emerge.

Kî me Ez? - Who Am I? The exhibition delves into the intricate layers of Kurdish identity through the lens of contemporary art. Enjoy live music by two Kurdish musicians Reis DeBruyne and Julian Mirran as they perform in the outdoor breezeway to complement the exhibit. Zey from Tattoo Zine will be doing Deq symbol tattoos in henna inside the gallery.

Gallery hours: 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., ArtWalk Activations: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Mason Square

Mason Square will feature two distinct artistic experiences. Visitors may take part in a dynamic dance activity or enjoy a special screening of The Phantom of the Opera.

Dance with Born 2 Dance Studio

From 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., Born 2 Dance Studio will lead an energetic dance session on the plaza. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, this activity offers a chance to feel the rhythm and learn new moves. Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle and come ready to dance.

Cinema on the Plaza

At 7:30 p.m., Cinema on the Plaza will present a special outdoor screening of The Phantom of the Opera. This classic film offers a captivating experience for audiences of all ages, set in a unique open-air environment that blends cinematic storytelling with community atmosphere.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington (MoCA), is celebrating the opening of the fall season shows. Join the Art after Hours festivities, shop at the Made in Arlington market and stay for the cash bar reception from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

A special group show at WHINO as part of the Art Walk. This exhibit will feature a curated selection of artists who have exhibited with Art Whino throughout the years, offering a rare opportunity to experience a cross section of the Lowbrow and Pop Surrealist art world all in one place. From iconic names to emerging voices, this show is a celebration of the movement we’ve helped shape since 2007.
