On Saturday, Oct. 4, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. discover an exciting mix of galleries, artist studios and interactive art activations. Immerse yourself in live music, hands-on workshops, curated exhibitions and a bustling artisan market — all in one dynamic walkable experience.

Take a tour of “The Shop,” the makerspace at Central Library (1015 N. Quincy St.). Shop staff welcome those who would like a tour of what equipment is available and what kind of projects are being made in the space. Open until 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Cody Gallery, Marymount University

Cody Gallery is a contemporary art space created as a platform to support the arts and strengthen the arts community at Marymount University and the greater Washington DC area.  Tunnel Vision includes drawings, works on panel, sculpture, photography and video by Foon Sham. The show includes the interactive large-scale sculpture, Shield. Located on the second floor of Marymount’s Ballston Center (1000 N. Glebe Rd.).

In the heart of the Ballston, the Fred Schnider Gallery of Art (888 N. Quincy St.) puts placemaking at the core of its exhibitions. “Expedition” by Chris Gregson is on display. Each image arises through slow rituals of layering and weaving calligraphic marks. In this series Chris finds freedom from the strict geometries that once held his hand, stepping instead into a process of gestural movements from which the images emerge.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington (MoCA), is celebrating the opening of the fall season shows. Join the Art after Hours festivities, shop at the Made in Arlington market and stay for the cash bar reception from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.

A special group show at WHINO as part of the Art Walk. This exhibit will feature a curated selection of artists who have exhibited with Art Whino throughout the years, offering a rare opportunity to experience a cross section of the Lowbrow and Pop Surrealist art world all in one place. From iconic names to emerging voices, this show is a celebration of the movement we’ve helped shape since 2007.
