Welcome to the Club: New to industry, but not to the Job
April 8, 2022 | By Yeykin Valenzuela
Often comes the desire to own a business, but one must dedicate time and understand the complications of going through the process of opening one. Entrepreneurs gain knowledge and experience working in the industry throughout their years before deciding to have their business.
They also often search for organizations offering tools to guide them through their entrepreneurial journey.
For example, Alba Abila fell in love with the cleaning industry after her first cleaning job. She worked for the same company for 16 years before starting her own business. She turned to her employer, who decided to take on a mentor role and advise her on taking steps toward starting her own business, even recommending some clients to her as he stepped away from the business. With that new customer base and her knowledge and love for the job, Alba opened Cleaning Crew in 2017.
"I aim to give other people opportunities to make a living by employing them. I also love the job because I can keep other peoples' houses organized and clean for when they get home from work," Abila said.
She became an entrepreneur herself and achieved her goal thanks to the help of different resources such as BizLaunch and Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC). Now, it is time to keep improving, set goals for the future, and keep working hard.
Considering her desire to be an entrepreneur, Abila participated in BizLaunch's ReLaunch program where she obtained personalized advice and other tools to open and develop her business. Additionally, through the program, the Cleaning Crew was able to get their own website and reach a new area of commerce.
