International technology integrator NEC Corporation of America has officially opened its new, expanded offices in Arlington’s Ballston neighborhood. Worldwide company leaders joined local officials to cut the ribbon on the new space, which now houses NEC Corporation of America as well as NEC National Security Systems, both wholly-owned subsidiaries of Japanese-based NEC Corporation. The company is a leading technology integrator improving communications and work solutions for clients around the globe.

The company originally came to Arlington’s Rosslyn neighborhood in 2018, but it soon found itself outgrowing its space. The new offices allow for secure site access for NEC NSS, which provides end-to-end systems for access control and security, NextGen identity verification, analytics and intrusion detection. The company’s integrated hardware and software solutions support some of the U.S government’s most critical missions, including those of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of State (DOS), Department of Justice (DOJ), and the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC).

NEC’s new space also features a virtual showroom for clients, complete with the use of virtual reality to showcase the company’s products and technology.

NEC leaders called Arlington “the perfect place” for the organization due not only to the proximity to federal agency and government affairs clients but also due to the access to Arlington’s extensive tech talent pool.

“Arlington is a good location for hiring great talent with excellent education and experiences,” says Shin Takahashi, Chairman of the Board and Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for NEC Corporation of America. “There are lots of good companies around here, so it is easy to find highly qualified talent.”
