One of their favorite techniques is to repurpose everyday materials and assign them an entirely different function—as gift packaging for friends and family. A paper towel roll becomes a receptacle for launching paper fireworks; a mesh bag that once held lemons becomes a bowtie on a gift box; a playing piece from a once-beloved game becomes an alluring cinch on a ribbon. "Even before I use an object for its original purpose, I am thinking about how to re-use it. The simple act of re-imagining what my default brain perceives as junk is my ‘innovation practice,'" says Beth.
