Civil Rights Commemorative Prints

In honor of Black History Month, Arlington Arts announces the donations of Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr.'s Arlington's Lunch Counter Sit-ins commemorative print portfolio (2019-2022) to the Library of Congress and the Center for Local History at Arlington Public Library.

These prints honor the 60th anniversary of the seven lunch counter sit-ins in Arlington between June 9-22, 1960. The landmark sit-ins were peaceful protests that challenged widespread segregation policies. Each print showcases a quote from a participant at each of the seven sit-in locations. Read Amos Kennedy, Jr.'s article in "Art For the Masses: Poster Collections at the Library of Congress," Library of Congress Magazine, January/ February 2023 Edition (p.28-29).
