It’s no secret that China is a target market for Arlington (and the entire Capital region), promoting its opportunities for companies looking to build a U.S. headquarters. It’s really a relatively simple match. Many Chinese companies excel in the very sectors Arlington is known for – things like healthcare IT and big data, for example – and we’ve already had several successful partnerships, ranging from a Chinese trade mission earlier this year to last year’s Dongsheng Entrepreneurial Competition, in which Arlington served as the sole U.S. host for the prestigious global entrepreneur pitch competition,
This week, that collaboration with the Chinese business community continued, as we welcomed more than 100 Chinese investors from key sectors of real estate, manufacturing, energy and ICT sectors for a special reception to kickoff the international business summit SelectUSA. The reception, a partnership between Arlington, D.C. and Prince George’s County, was held at the Phillips Collection in D.C. and highlighted the significance of the U.S.-China commercial relationship.
This event is a wonderful way to demonstrate AED’s continued focus on building the trade and investment ties between Arlington/the Capital region and China, which has already invested more than $20 billion in the U.S. this year alone. It’s also a great opportunity to build up our regional relationship and activities, to demonstrate our commitment to regional approaches to international trade and investment.
