Retail is Popping Up in Clarendon

Fair warning. When you meet artist Sabrina Cabada, you’ll be certain that she’s right about the title of her spring pop-up gallery in Clarendon’s Market Common: All you need is Love…and Art. Even the Beatles wouldn’t argue with that borrowed theme. Walk in to the shop/gallery/experience and you’ll forget any cold days lingering regardless of spring’s official entrance. Inside, the space is a color bonanza.

Arlington artist Sabrina Cabada embodies an urban spirit more often associated with a big city.  She’s bold. Says yes to big ideas. She knows a lot of creative people who are open to playing in her world. And she credits having artist parents who ran galleries as the reason she’s passionate about making her art work.

First opened in the fall, Sabrina put her imprint on the vacant shop for a holiday market. Partnering with Clarendon Regency, the space was transformed under her watch.  No stranger to the world of entrepreneurs, she co-founded Arlington’s local gem boutique, Covet, so melding commerce and art is where she shines.  Influenced by color, light and the human experience, her paintings explore women’s beauty in portraits that evoke strength, whimsy and inner secrets. Back this spring with new partners Nicole Lanteri and Made in Arlington vendor Mira Jean Designs, the shop is a playground for surprise and inspiration. When art and retail mix, the result is an invitation to embrace a larger creative ecosystem, enliven an area and add to the local economy.

Sabrina Cabada pop-up gallery is located at 2700 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201. Open Wednesday through Saturday, 11am -5pm and by appointment.

As featured in Arlnow, check out more upcoming events at the gallery.
