You may know Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse on Columbia Pike as the place for live standup comedy, discount family afternoon movies, quirky chairs and nachos brought to your table while you sit back for entertainment. What could be better? This fall, get ready for a film series that’s as local as your farmers’ markets food sources.
Helping businesses and creatives collaborate is a big part of Arlington’s Creative Economy Initiative. So introducing Melissa Houghton, Executive Director of Women in Film and Video, DC and Greg Godbout, owner of Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse was a great opportunity to bring art and business together. Local filmmakers are often on the hunt for screening venues, while independent venue operators are looking for new audiences. Saying yes to creative partnerships is what makes our businesses, neighborhoods and creative sector stronger.
Starting Wednesday, September 13 with a showing of WISH YOU WELL from producer Sara Elizabeth Timmins, audiences will get an added bonus to their night out – meeting the filmmakers!
