It’s summer, so who isn’t thinking about holiday shopping? Or wishing for a cold day? Ok, maybe not that. Yes, you can shop from anywhere, anytime, any season and whenever the holiday inspiration strikes. But what if you want those unique, specialty, one-of-a-kind items that show off the talent where you live? Finding that kind of special gift just got a whole lot easier in Arlington. This year, hyper-local shopping finds a new home with a Made in Arlington pop- up shop convenient to central Arlington and Metro.
Coming in November and December 2017 in a partnership with Arlington Public Library, the Plaza Shop at 2100 Clarendon Blvd in the Arlington County office building in Courthouse will host a special “Made in Arlington” collection featuring artisans, makers and entrepreneurs who are all making cool products in Arlington!
Looking for a sweet treat? Locally produced Kingsbury Chocolates and Handcrafted Confections will be irresistible. Or maybe you want to keep your friends and family busy with deceptively simple looking puzzles. Can You Solve Me takes child’s play to a new level. Textile designer Kate Hougen of Mira Jean Designs will show off her colorful fabrics on wine bags and home accessories. These and other Arlington makers will have their wares on hand for sale in the Plaza Shop while still more will be doing demonstrations and weekly lobby pop-ups.Topic: Creative Economy
