BbG Fitness and Total Wellness Challenge

One of the ways that BizLaunch helps to promote its small business clients is to sharae client's stories. In this month’s BizLaunch Featured Business Series, we hear from Ginny Wright, an Arlington-based small business owner. Ginny has worked with BizLaunch and SCORE for over 15 years.

“Do what you love and the money will follow” my friend suggested.

It was only natural that my second career would be wellness related. For as long as I can remember I’d been tuned into fitness and wellness years before the general public starting talking about it.

Groups are more fun

When I moved to Arlington in 2002 I continued to exercise regularly but jumping rope and running alone just weren’t that fun. I loved the energy of groups so I started training some of my neighbors in Madison Manor in our backyards and named my company Body by Ginny, or BbG. Since our community is so tightly knit, word of our classes grew quickly. We won Best of Arlington 3 times and have been featured in Arlington Magazine more than once. Sixteen years later we run 17 weekly classes at seven locations in Arlington — all outside, year-round. Three of our four original instructors are still with us today,

“The Most Fit City in the U.S.”

Arlington was the perfect place for BbG to grow because Arlingtonians appreciate the importance of good health. After 16 years this is still the best workout in town! It’s important to challenge ourselves physically in order to get and stay strong. Anyone who wants to get fit and connect with nature can come try a class any time.

As BbG Fitness grew so did the emphasis on wellness and nutrition. In 2009 I became certified as a health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. Now in addition to fitness I help others learn how to eat well for optimal health and weight.

Change is always hard but easier with the support of others

Six years ago I developed an online program called Total Wellness Challenge (TWC)  to help more people improve their health and change their lives. Players work together with their fellow challengers and keep score every day for a month. They focus on nutrition, fitness and lifestyle. Challengers offer and receive support from each other and provide all-important accountability to stick to their goals via a reflections page.

The TWC is open to everyone. It runs three times each year: January after the holidays, May before the summer and September after we’ve all fallen off the wellness wagon! The next TWC starts September 16. The price is just $39. Sign up today to start your wellness journey.
