Earlier this month, Arlington Economic Development hosted Intelligent Communitiy Forum co-founder Robert Bell for a 3-day visit showcasing Arlington’s technology, broadband initiatives, business strategies and other efforts. The visit was part of the evaluation process for Arlington’s status as one of the world’s Top 7 Intelligent Communities for 2015.
Among the stops on his visit, Bell met with elementary school students who were using technology in creative ways in the classroom, attended a walking tour of the new technology spaces in Crystal City, and held a roundtable discussion with faculty and staff at Virginia Tech’s National Capital Research Center in Arlington, where many of the County’s public private partnerships with the university researchers and private enterprises were detailed as part of Arlington’s Living Lab environment.
Arlington representatives will attend the Intelligent Communities Summit in Toronto in June to present on the County’s programs and technology initiatives that have led to its status as an Intelligent Community. The 2015 Intelligent Community will be named at the close of the Intelligent Communities Summit.Topic: BIG Update
