Arlington Defense Companies can expand with “Going Global”

Here is an excellent opportunity for Arlington companies interested in expanding overseas.  I recently attended the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) kick-off meeting for the “Going Global” Defense Initiatives.  VEDP has received a Department of Defense grant to assist Virginia defense-related contractors adversely affected by defense budget reductions.  The $1.5 million grant will assist Virginia companies diversify by exploring international opportunities.  Companies new to international market or are seasoned exporters are eligible to participate.  The “Going Global” Defense Initiatives will be conducted now through June 20, 2014.  The program supports globalization activities for Virginia’s defense companies by providing the following services:

  • Market Research
  • In-County Business Matchmaking
  • Export Compliance
  • Search Engine Optimization, Website Translation, and Digital Marketing
  • Export Training
  • International Certification and Standards

Companies interested in the program should apply immediately since services such as export compliance and website translation are limited to 15 – 20 companies.  The one page application is straight-forward, and VEDP’s Export Manager, Jenee Andreev, is eager to work with qualified Virginia companies to explore exporting opportunities overseas.   It’s a great opportunity for Arlington companies to take advantage of the initiative and hopefully lead to international sales and partnerships.   If you’re an Arlington company interested in the program, contact me and I’d be happy to assist you with introductions or the overall process.
