For the second year in a row, the team at Arlington Economic Development (AED) has taken home the coveted “Deal of the Year” prize, this time for the Amazon HQ2 project. AED, Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Alexandria Economic Development Partnership and JBG Smith were honored last week at the 21st annual “Best Real Estate Deals” awards from the Washington Business Journal, with the nationally-recognized deal for Amazon’s second headquarters referred to as “deal of the year, deal of the decade, deal of a lifetime? Yes, they all apply.” The publication also said the Amazon HQ2 journey was one participants “won’t soon forget.”
For more than 20 years, the Washington Business Journal has honored the top deliveries, leases, acquisitions, financing deals and sales in Greater Washington. The Best Real Estate Deals of 2018 covered the best in the business, from leases bringing in major companies to new sports arenas, stadiums, shopping and more throughout the entire DMV region. Amazon HQ2 was the only Arlington finalist among the Top 25 deals recognized by the publication.
This is the second year in a row AED has won the top prize at the awards. It was honored for the Nestlé relocation deal during the 2017 awards.
