Why should I enter Startup Arlington?
Startup Arlington free living and work space in Arlington. Did we mention this is all for free? Most importantly, if you’re a growing startup looking for an opportunity to grow your business in the DC Metro region this is a perfect opportunity for you. Beyond that, the 2018 Startup Arlington winner will win access to the resources, infrastructure and people of a community where remarkable things are happening – Arlington, VA. How do I enter?
All you need to do is complete the application before the deadline. If chosen as a finalist, you will be asked to upload a one minute video about your company and why you think being in Arlington, VA will help your company.
Will I need to pay anything if I become a finalist?
You will need to pay your preferred transportation method to and from Arlington, VA at the start and end of the competition.
What are the eligibility requirements for entry?
How many rounds of judging are there?
There are two rounds of judging, an online written application and a video pitch to the public.
What criteria will judges use to score my application?
Judges will look over and score each application based on the following criteria:
Does my startup need to relocate to Arlington, VA if I win a prize?
Yes, and do not worry because Arlington, VA is a great place to live and work.
Our winners are required to relocate to Arlington for at least three months. The Startup Arlington winner will receive free living and working space in Arlington. In addition, the winner receives mentorship from experts related to their fields and access to other exciting programs. Please see our eligibility requirements. Will Startup Arlington provide guidance to winners as they relocate to Arlington, VA?
Yes, Arlington Economic Development (administrators of the program) will help guide you and assist with connecting you to the right resources before and after you arrive in Arlington.
If I am the winner, how soon does my company need to locate to Arlington, VA?
If you are chosen as the winner, you will need to relocate to Arlington for at least a three-month period. The time period will be determined in spring 2018 before the application is released.
What is there to do in Arlington?
We’re so glad you asked! Arlington is a vibrant community with the most millennials per capita in the country! With neighborhoods with names like Crystal City, Ballston, and Rosslyn – our suburban and urban hybrid feel has great restaurants, beer gardens, shopping, festivals, and historical monuments to see and visit.

Who are the judges and mentors?
Startup Arlington has a team of judges and mentors from throughout the State of Virginia and the Washington, D.C. Metro Region who are content experts in various fields.
If I applied in any of the previous competitions, but did not win the prize, can I apply again this year?
Yes. The competition is open to applicants from previous years.

Is the application open to every business?
No, Startup Arlington is geared towards attracting fast growing companies (revenue/employees) that are using technology they created to improve an area of need in the market. In addition, eligible companies and applicants must not reside in Arlington, VA or the Washington DC Region. Please see our eligibility requirements.
