Arlington, Virginia has unparalleled access to many high-quality universities and colleges in the Metro DC region. George Mason University, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, The George Washington University, and Marymount University have campus locations in Arlington. Arlington also has immediate access to one of the largest community colleges in the United States, Northern Virginia Community College, serving more than 75,000 students with six campuses throughout Northern Virginia.
In conjunction with Amazon’s headquarters decision, Governor Ralph Northam announced in November 2019 that Virginia will invest in the Commonwealth’s tech talent pipeline to create 31,000 new computer science graduates over 20 years, under agreements he signed with 11 universities. Arlington’s George Mason University and Virginia Tech announced plans to increase their number of tech graduates in Northern Virginia.
